Why I Chose Chartered Accountancy (CA) After Class 12

A Student’s Honest Journey from Confusion to Career Clarity
The First Big Decision After Class 10
After completing Class 10, every student faces one of the first major decisions of life:
Which stream should I choose Science, Commerce, or Arts?
For many students, this decision is confusing. It often gets influenced by:
- Peer pressure
- Popular trends
- Family expectations
- Lack of proper guidance
There is also a common myth many students hear: “10th ke baad toh bas maje hi maje hain.” (“Life becomes easy and fun after Class 10.”)
In reality, the opposite is true.
The years after Class 10 are crucial for shaping your future. The choices you make during this period can either build a strong career foundation or push you in the wrong direction. At that time, I did not fully realize this either. Until Class 10, my parents constantly pushed me to study. Because of that, I never developed strong self-discipline.
In fact, my parents did not expect extraordinary academic results from me.
But things began to change after my Class 10 results.
My Class 10 Result: The Turning Point
When my Class 10 results were announced, I scored 80%. For many students this may seem average, but for my family it was a big achievement. My parents were extremely happy and proudly shared the news with relatives and friends. For me, however, it felt like the finish line rather than the starting point.
I thought:
“Now everything is done. Time to relax and enjoy.”
But very soon my father asked me a question that forced me to think seriously for the first time: “Which stream are you planning to choose?”And that is where my real journey began.
Why I Chose Commerce
When I thought honestly about my strengths and interests, two things were clear: Science was not for me., Arts did not feel like the right fit either. That left Commerce. Initially, I chose Commerce without much planning. But something surprising happened once my classes started.
From the very first month, I started enjoying the subjects.
Commerce introduced me to a completely new way of thinking:
- Understanding how businesses work
- Learning financial concepts
- Exploring stock markets
- Studying how money flows in the economy
What made it even more interesting was that I could relate many concepts to my father’s business. For the first time, studies started feeling practical and meaningful.
From an Average Student to a Focused Learner
By the end of Class 11, my interest in Commerce had grown significantly. I started reading additional books and exploring topics beyond the syllabus. Instead of studying because I was forced to, I began studying because I was genuinely curious. The results reflected that transformation. 3rd Rank in Class 11. 2nd Rank in Class 12. 91% in Class 12 Board Exams. For someone who had once been considered a weak student, this change was huge. But another important lesson was waiting for me.
How Environment Influences Your Future
After Class 12, like many students, I got influenced by my friends and joined a particular college.
Initially, everything seemed normal. But gradually I started observing the environment around me.
One day, I overheard a group of classmates discussing relationships and marriage plans rather than career goals or ambitions. That moment made me pause and reflect. I spent almost an entire week thinking seriously about my future.
I asked myself a simple but powerful question:
“Is this the direction I want my life to go?”
The answer was clear.
No.
I did not want to drift through college without building a meaningful career. So I made a difficult but important decision. I left that college.
The Suggestion That Changed My Career Path
After that, my father suggested something unexpected.
He said: “Why don’t you think about becoming a Chartered Accountant?”
My immediate reaction was:
“CA? Me? No chance.”
Like most students, I had heard only one thing about CA: It is extremely difficult, Very few students pass, Only toppers succeed
But then my father took me to meet CA Deepak Motwani Sir at ProcentrIQ Academy. And that meeting completely changed my perspective.

Under the guidance of CA Deepak Motwani Sir, I realized something important. CA is not about memorization or being extraordinarily intelligent. A Message to Students Choosing Their Career
If you are currently deciding your stream or career path, remember one thing:
Do not make decisions based on:

- Popular opinions
Instead, think about:
- What kind of professional you want to become
